Moving Tips
ALLLLL of your responses are below, but to recap, here are some of my favorites:
- Declutter BEFORE packing! Don’t bring junk with you that you don’t want.
- Label boxes with a color coded system of some sort (stickers, masking tape, etc…) and then put a piece of coordinating construction paper on the doorframe of the room it belongs in in the new house.
- Hire movers :)
- Trash bags over clothes on hangers. Poke a hole in the top for the hook of the hanger and drape all your clothes inside the trash bag. Easy to hang.
- Pack rooms as they are now, not how you expect them to be in the new house - easier to remember where things might be.
- Have a last day/first day box - toilet paper, trash bags, shower curtain, bedding, etc…
- Pack for your family like you’re going on a 4 day vacation so you can survive without finding everything right away!
- Put a thin or foam paper plate between glass plates and bowls instead of wrapping them.
- Have a cleaning crew deep clean your new house before you move in.
- So many people suggesting to pack books in suitcases. I thought this was crazy until the 5th person suggested it, so you might be on to something!
- Saran wrap kitchen drawer organizers with contents in them.
